(Chief of EduMoney: Younkyung Je)

[English]

Younkyung Je is an ordinary mom who lets her kids know what it’s like to get the understanding of financial situations and at the same time, a financial planner.

Having served as a student president of Duksung Women’s University, she worked in various financial areas serving as a director of Education Department in AssetBe and a director of Financial Consulting Department in Hangyurae ENC. Inspired by her own realization of the need for reasonable spending, she dived into economy education business and founded a social enterprise EduMoney. In addition, she has expanded her career by showing up at TV programs such as “Live Good” on SBS, “Economy Vitamin” on KBS, “Tangible Economy” on MBC radio and pointed out problems in middle and working classes and suggested alternatives to them. With “Living with Hope” on Fact TV and her blog “Je’s Money Humanities”, she published such books as “The Predatory Financial Society : Who Leads Us to Owe?”, “What Does the Money Mean to You?”, “My Father’s Housekeeping Book”, “Unfortunate Investments, Fortunate Housekeeping Books” and so on.

She says we need to be skeptical of financial companies’ marketing strategies and hence, she suggests “Anti-Investment” to people. She also adds that financial companies talked people into doing that investment, rocked the unstable middle-classes’ minds, and finally increased the prices of households and properties and the government jumped on the bandwagon with them. All of these led to this tragedy – piling-up debts on people and unstable economic situations. She insists that money should be spent in rational and reasonable ways.

In April this year, she launched the “Forgiving the Debts” Project, which is so called ‘Korean Rolling Jubilee’. And she has been serving as an executive director of “Living with Hope” with the purpose of protecting ordinary people’s livelihood.
What could be her own solutions to the prevailing debts and money problems on us?
