김유리

Yuree Kim is a writer, famous for her best-seller novel “Cat in the rooftop house(2011)”, which was once popular with its TV series under the same title. Amazingly, she never learned writing, even never imagined herself becoming a writer. Back in the past she ran away from home and quit the Korean Language and Literature department of Dong-A University. That was about the time she started cohabitation before marriage. As you could imagine, at that time it was much harsher for her to get through people’s negative perspectives toward her, but she made it. Based on her own experiences, she started to write the book, “Cat On The Roof”, whose plot is quite different from that of its TV series. Though the books were mega-hits, however, it’s a pity that she couldn’t get paid as much as she deserved because her publishing company went bankrupt.

She has written a couple of series novels such as “Anna’s Shootingstar” published on Hankuk Newspaper in 2004 and “Q.V Rix” in a mook Voila from 2006 to 2011. In 2010, she served as the representative writer of creativity & culture center Totatoga and opened up her own publishing company, Kiss the Books. In 2011, she gave several novel writing lectures and in the following year established a writing academy, Tangpa. Aside from that, she served as an executive secretary of Busan Anti Animal Abuse Center.

Her motto is “Never whine at any time, at any place”. She refuses to be overwhelmed by any devastating situations wants to win over them. She says it’s pathetic that youngsters nowadays are helplessly heating on getting jobs and hence never giving a glance at how their lives are going on. With a view to dusting the burden off their shoulders at least a little, she started “How to Write a Cover Letter” classes. But can you guess what is going on in the class? It probably is out of your expectation.
Do you want to know it really it is? Come and see her on stage in the TEDx Busan event.
